HID (Firmware) for FSC-BT981

Hello Feasycom Team,
I'm using a device based on your FSC-BT981 module (Firmware 9.4.0).
I need to use it as a Bluetooth LE HID keyboard to connect with iOS devices.
Could you please provide the corresponding HID firmware (.bin) and instructions for OTA upgrade via FeasyBlue?

Phil_B The FSC-BT981 module does not support the BLE HID profile. However, you can configure it to operate as a Classic Bluetooth HID keyboard using the SPP profile by sending the following AT command:
AT+MODE=2
This configuration ensures compatibility with most iOS devices for keyboard input functionality.

Should you require BLE HID functionality, we would be pleased to recommend alternative Feasycom modules that better suit your requirements.

Gavin, thank you very much.
I found the way to activate the Bluetooth HID keyboard with an Android App provided by Ulefone for the RFID module they provide with the FSC-BT981. Unfortunately now I don't get the FSC-BT981 back to DATA mode to access other settings. It is locked in HID keyboard and i don't find the way to get it back. USB connection is also not recognized.

Phil_B We're pleased to learn that you have successfully activated the Classic Bluetooth HID feature.

To restore the module from HID keyboard mode to AT command mode, please follow these steps:

First, disconnect the Bluetooth connection

Then send the following command:

AT+TPMODE=0

If you need to send data via commands in HID mode, please use the following procedure:

Configure the HID keyboard input mode to Hex key code:

AT+HIDMODE=0

Send data using the AT command. Example transmission:

AT+HIDSEND=6,\x00\x1e\x00\x1f\x00\x20

Parameter Explanation:
- 6: Report length
- \x00: Modifier key (used for controlling states of combination keys like Shift, Ctrl, etc.)
- \x1e\x00\x1f\x00\x20: Actual key data (this parameter in the example is used to send the characters "abc")

Hi Gavin, thank you so much for your kind help!
I encounter the problem in the way to connect the module which is in HID mode to any device to send the commands.
This is what I did: First, disconnect the Bluetooth connection --> ok
connected via USB to Android --> "no serial device connected"
connected via USB to Windows --> "USB device not recognized, it can't be used/ error requesting a device description"
tried to pair via Bluetooth LE Explorer -pairing not possible.

Can you advice how to setup the connection when HID is active to then send those commands?

Phil_B Regarding the "USB device not recognized" issue, please confirm:
Did this problem occur after configuring AT+MODE=2 (HID mode)?
Are you testing with our bare module or has it been integrated into your development board?

Please note: The module cannot be discovered by BLE tools when in HID mode. To switch modes via Bluetooth, first configure the module to BLE mode (e.g., AT+MODE=3).

Hi Gavin,
Did this problem occur after configuring AT+MODE=2 (HID mode)? --> yes. Since i changed the mode to HID it is not recognized to be accessed by USB or Bluetooth via FeasyBlue to be connected to send any command.

I am testing with the module built in the Ulefone RFID reader.
I have switched the mode with the Android App provided by Ulefone "RFID tools" that allows switching from Data Mode to btKeyboard.

At the moment the RFID read and transmission in HID mode is only activated after connection to a USB powersource for 2 seconds, then it switches to continous reading. I would need to switch that and the reads are without /CR after each RFID so i can't divide the multiple reads. This is why I need to switch back to Data/ configuration mode and change the configuration.

I have just received the solution form Ulefone. That did it...
"you can connect the device to any computer while it is turned on, and then press the power button twice to switch the phone back to data mode. "
So easy if you know ;-)
If you could just provide the commands so that in HID mode it does the following:

start reading after being switched on without any other impulse needed
add /CR after each read
if possible don't transmit a read of the same RFID multiple times if it is readed more often with in a timeframe

Would that be possible?

Half solved... I can connect with FeasyBlue and I receive things from the reader. But when I send any AT command nothing happens. No reaction

Phil_B For executing Over-The-Air (OTA) commands using the FeasyBlue app, please refer to the "Parameter Modification" section in the following tutorial:

Tutorial:
1.Open FeasyBlue, select “ Settings “ - “ Parameter Modification “ .
2.Input password 20138888 .
3.Parameter modification
Example: Change module’s BR/EDR local name to “ABC”: Enter AT+NAME=123 in the custom comand , select this item, and Begin
4.Select the device
5.Enter air command mode, parameter modification is successful

Gavin, thank you. That works.
Now could you provide the commands to switch the behaviour so that in HID-mode it starts reading directly after switching on and that it appends a /CR after each scan and maybe if possible does not resend the multiple reads of the same rfid?

Phil_B Unfortunately, the module itself cannot implement the features you requested.

If you require appending a carriage return (/CR) after each scan or implementing RFID tag filtering, we recommend configuring these functionalities through scanner's MCU .

The FSC-BT981 module is solely responsible for data transmission and does not modify or filter the data content in any way.
